About Us
Our kennel, Algetislekvi was established in 2008 when we decided to have our first homebred Collie ( Rough ) after more than 25 years since having our first.
We admire their loyalty, their friendship and also their affection, thoughts and optimism. Though is this truly enough for taking on the huge responsibility of breeding? Maybe we can use our fresh vision and insight of the standard to establish the line we believe is beautiful and carries all the best qualities a Collie can possess.
This has become our aim.
After many health check-ups, lots of literature accessed from the helpful Collie ( Rough ) community and after talking to a few knowledgeable minds in the business, we finally decided to give breeding a go, as the outlook was very positive. Breeding our young girl, Tess, was very awe-inspiring.
However, one can not be prepared for everything. We believed that we were ready for the birth of a couple of puppies, but never imagined the reality of Tess giving birth to nine healthy collie puppies; with variants of Blue Merle and Tricolour - rolling around what will be their accommodation for the next few weeks, our homemade whelping box.
Having nine beautiful collie puppies is no easy job and with the days after birth came both the naming process and attachment. The various texts we had sourced gave us an expanded knowledge that equipped us wonderfully for everything; but as we all know, the life experience of such events left us with nothing to compare.
Before moving too fast, we had to learn and discover the puppies characteristics and qualities that would enable us to choose the few that could help us establish our aim of enhancing the line we believe houses qualities that include, raising a loving nurturing breed with lots of warmth and strong stance; this has been the major focus of our kennel ever since we have started out. From nine we had five and from five, three were left. Harbouring such affection to the 'lost' puppies, we could not pass on the three that were left so we provided for them as much as we could and till this day they stay with us, two gorgeous collie bitches and one manly stud. Algetislekvi Chio Chio San, Algetislekvi Jamaica Perfect and Algetislekvi Samurai in Blue were the ones fortunate enough for us to hold all suitable physical aspects of the collie breed on top of an affectionate and optimistic nature. It was impossible for us to resist their countless and absolutely priceless charms. We are very lucky to know and understand the generosity of the Collie breed, they have an intrinsic sense to provide the simple emotional support needed to lighten up your day.
We have been showing our puppies at Championship Shows in Sydney and regional NSW on and off since their first minor milestone age of six months, and due to their keen sense of smell and fast paced 'lifestyle', they have entertained us with the thoughts of building them for agility and tracking, though those of the latter have been left uncovered for now. Now at the tender age of two years, we have been through a lot together, gaining show experience and building up the recognition that they well and truly deserve.
